Our ministers have lived in various sections of town. 1922, a house in the New York section was rented as a parsonage for Rev. Sam C. Rice. 1927, the house next to the church site was rented for Rev. W. F. Cochran. Late in the year, 1928, Rev. Cochran moved into rooms under the new church. These rooms provided living quarters for the ministers of the church until 1943, at which time a house was purchased as the first Methodist Church parsonage. This was to serve as the site of the parsonage until 1958 when the present parsonage was finished.

The Parsonage

The site of the present parsonage was purchased on October 6, 1947 from Mr. and Mrs. A.P. Fugate for $800.00. Trustees at that time were: Homer Blevins, Troy Cook, Fred Fiechter, Ernest Jacobs, John O'Roark, and H. Lundy Russell.

At one time, the church owned two lots in Gulf Port, Mississippi. These two lots had been deeded to the church by Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Wood. On March 24, 1947, LeRoy Saylor, as acting agent for the church, sold these two lots for $500.00. This amount went toward the purchase of the present parsonage site. LeRoy had quite a story to tell about his trip to Mississippi and the selling of these two lots.
